Canada Safeway Junior Star Program

Junior curlers have an opportunity to be paired up with a participating team and be part of the action. Curlers between the ages of 12 – 16 will be asked to fill out an entry form and submit a paragraph entitled “Why I Should Be A Junior Star”. The Juniors that are selected will participate when their World Team is featured in the pre-game ceremony. They will take part in the team warm-up, participate in the pre game ceremony in which their team is being featured, tour the TSN trailer and meet Ray, Linda and Vic.

Ford Draw to the World

The Ford Draw to the World competition is an opportunity for curling clubs and communities throughout British Columbia to send a representative to compete with each other for a chance to win a Ford vehicle at the 2008 Ford World Women's Curling Championship.

Grand Transoceanic Match

The Grand Transoceanic Match is the Ryder Cup of curling and organized for spectators attending the World Championship to have an opportunity to meet other spectators from around the world and curl against each other. The Transoceanic Bonspiel Match 2008 is being held in the Winfield Curling Club. This club has 4 sheets of ice and is approximately thirty minutes south of Vernon.

Sign up for the event at the Multiplex closes Wednesday, March 26 at 6:00pm; registration booth onsite at the Greater Vernon Multiplex. Space is limited to 64 curlers and the cost is $30.00 which includes continental breakfast, transportation, entertainment, prizes & lunch.

Daily Autograph sessions will be in the lobby of the Vernon Curling Club.

Pin Trading

The pin collectors are coming! The unofficial sport of the curling event is pin collecting. Curlers and fans will be coming with their traders to enhance their collections. There is no fun in just asking for a pin, it’s the bartering, the trading and the stories that make pin trading so much fun. Our event will have one of a kind 2008 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship pins, Sponsor pins and of course a special Volunteer pin. Look for the pin traders table on the main concourse at the Greater Vernon Multiplex.

World Pin Draw

The World Pin Draw will be set up beside the Information Booth at the Greater Vernon Multiplex. Entry forms will be distributed by the attendant at the Information Booth The participants of the World Pin Draw will stick their pin into the map indicating where they live. The lucky winner will be drawn during the 5th end break at the semi-finals on Sat, Mar. 29th and take home all of the pins.

HOT SHOTS
The Hot Shots program is a version of the Ford Hot Shots played at the Brier and Tournament of Hearts that allows your facility to host a similar event for your members. They are sure to be excited about participating in this event, especially when they can compare their skills to those of the best curlers in the country!
