Time Clocks

GUIDELINES FOR TIME CLOCKS

  1. Each team will be given 80 minutes to complete the game.
  2. Each team will be given two (2) one minute time-outs. Coaches are allowed in the ice area to meet with their teams during official time-outs. The time-out will commence when the coach of the team that called the time-out arrives in the ice area.
  3. At the beginning of the game, the clock will start when the first stone crosses the nearer tee-line.
  4. The clock changes when the rock comes to rest and the opposing skip takes control of the rings.
  5. At the completion of the end, the clock will not start for 30 seconds (if a team takes 20 seconds to start the next end, the clock does not start until the 30 second time-out has elapsed).
  6. A one (1) minute time-out will take place at the completion of the 5th end (if a team takes 20 seconds to start the next end, the clock does not start until the one minute time-out has elapsed)
  7. Teams may be notified – at any point in the game – if the official is concerned about the amount of time remaining on any given clock.
  8. Each team will be given an additional 8 minutes for each extra end PLUS any remaining unused time-outs.
  9. The clocks will be stopped for measurements, injuries or any other circumstance deemed necessary by the timing volunteer.
  10. The penalty for running out of time is forfeiture of game.
  11. Decisions of the host committee are final.
